Tips for a Healthy Heart

Live your life with a better heart health

Time does not exempt our bodies, we all age. As we get older, our vital organs begin to function less well. Our cells experience a gradual decline and become less able to divide and multiply. And our heart is not an exception.

Here’s the truth, time does not shift backward; we will never grow back and get younger. What we can do is to continually look after our bodies and modify our lifestyles.

There are many steps that you can do to maintain a good and healthy heart. Here are some of them that you can easily start with.

Give up the butts

Smoking has a huge impact on your heart health. It increases the stiffness of the blood vessels making it harder for them to expand and contract as needed and more likely to split. So if you’re a smoker, make an effort to give it up now.

Keep moving

Getting and staying active can reduce your risk of developing heart diseases. It can also be a great mood booster and stress buster.

Eat more fiber

Eat plenty of fiber to help lower your risk of heart disease – aim for at least 30g a day.

Cut down on salt and saturated fat

Taking too much salt, as well as saturated fat, over time can increase your risk of high blood pressure, which is a major risk factor for heart disease. For a healthy heart, it is best to reduce your salt intake.

Drink less alcohol

Regular drinking more than the recommended alcohol intake can result to a greater risk of serious problems with your health, especially your heart.

Eat fish

Eat fish at least twice a week, including a portion of oily fish. Fish such as pilchards, sardines and salmon are a source of omega-3 fats, which may help protect against heart disease.
